In a dimly lit room, a girl sat against the cold white wall of the bathroom with her face devoid of any emotions. The bathroom mirror was already fogged up, blurred like her vision. The shower roared behind her, its hot stream creating thick clouds of steam that curled into the cold winter air leaking from the drafty window. Outside, cold freeze wind tapped softly against the glass, but inside, everything was loud. Her heart. Her breath. Her thoughts.
She sat curled up on the tile floor, knees pulled to her chest, soaking wet even though she hadn’t stepped under the water. Her dress clung to her skin, heavy with damp, but she couldn’t feel the cold. Or the heat. Just the tightness in her chest, the dizzying pressure in her head.
